      <image:title>Ceramics - Yellow Leather</image:title>
<image:caption>This small sculpture is in the rough shape of a leather coral (Sarcophyton) which has a very undulating shape, but I took the undulations at step further with very delicate edges like flower petals, which is appropriate considering corals are "Anthozoans" (Greek for "flower animals"). I created it from a rolled out disc (drawing on making chapatis with my mother) that I then folded like a cone and crushed at the bottom for structural support. It was sold on www.saatchiart.com</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ceramics - Mushroom corals</image:title>
<image:caption>Continuing on with my Anthozoa ceramic series, these are based on "mushroom corals" of the genus Discosoma. They are very common in the marine aquarium hobby and look very much like little plates. They are closely related to anemones, and the central opening is their mouth.</image:caption>

<image:title>Paintings - Thaamara - Lotus (sumi ink on unryu rice paper)</image:title>
<image:caption>I saw a very nice picture of a lotus and lotus leaf, so I used it for this sketch trying out the "five colors" (shades of grey) used in traditional Sumi-e painting. I then added the Om syllable (Sanskrit), followed by the Malayalam word for lotus (thaamara). I will probably repeat this as I really enjoyed making the lotus leaf.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Paintings - Sunshine (watercolor on paper)</image:title>
<image:caption>This is supposed to be some succulent (maybe Echeveria or Agave). I was using a limited palette of english yellow for the background (the "shades" are really just lighter/darker applications of the same pigment), and recycling a green mixture (cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, hooker's green). I got a little carried away with the leaves, leaving it looking too close to the edge, so I just flipped the painting upside down by putting my signature at the top! :D</image:caption>

      <image:title>Papercraft - Papercut Eagle</image:title>
<image:caption>This is my claim to fame, IMO. I think in kindergarten or 1st grade, I got an origami book. But, it was very unorthodox, using multiple sheets and gluing them together. Well, I ran with it and developed my own unique paper craft style of folding a piece of paper, cutting the outline (no stencil, just by eye) of an animal (usually birds or dinosaurs), and then using various folding techniques to give shape. When I was young, I would make hundreds of these animals, recreating the nature documentaries I saw on TV like huge herds roaming through the living room. I call this technique "papercut" (I was only five or six!), but it is similar to kirigami and origami.</image:caption>
