Tiger Lily

Tiger Lily

Pen on Paper (9x12") - I always liked the threefold symmetry of lilies.

This is my own claim to fame. I developed this semi-kirigami technique when I was starting elementary school. I used to make dinosaurs and birds, as seen here. They are formed from a simple paper folded in half, the profile of the animal is cut freehand with scissors, and then folded using various techniques.

This is an example of science and art, namely a gel made of agarose (a sugar from seaweed used in molecular biology) that has been placed in liquid bath with electrodes to separate DNA particles based on their sizes. A special fluorescent dye that glows when it binds to DNA is used to visualize them under a UV lamp.

Sharpie Pen in my little Rhodia notebook. Very nice paper, I must say. I used it mainly when going to kendo class to write down the katas (choreographed forms).
